The Forgotten Rebels' 1989 self-titled compilation on Restless Records captured the Hamilton, Ontario band's decade-long evolution from snotty punk provocateurs to rockabilly-tinged rebels, featuring remastered versions of their underground classics like "Surfin' on Heroin" and "I Hate Cops." This release marked their transition from independent Canadian punk label to major US distribution, introducing American audiences to Mickey DeSadist's sneering vocals and the band's notorious reputation for banned songs and controversial lyrics that had made them fixtures in Toronto's Queen Street punk scene throughout the 1980s.
