Six Finger Satellite's "Clone Theory" EP captures the Providence noise-rock scene at its experimental peak, recorded at The Parlour studio in early 1996 during the band's transition from pure noise to electronic-infused post-rock. This 8-track release marked bassist James Apt's vocal debut and showcased the group's pioneering use of drum machines and synthesizers within heavy guitar frameworks, influencing the emerging electroclash movement. The EP's fusion of industrial electronics with Rhode Island's underground rock aesthetic helped establish Load Records as a crucial label for experimental music, bridging the gap between 90s noise rock and early 2000s dance-punk revival.
